To get the full EGC experience, you can also find…
- More than ten professional players from Europe, Korea, Japan, China and the USA. Get to know them before you meet them thanks to the fabulous portraits by Zoezoe and Milena.
- Professional go teachers and strong amateurs (two French champions!) completing the teaching team to review your games.
- Two professional lectures per afternoon (14:00 and 16:00): check the programme online for the teachers and topics!
- Live streaming of the EC by Stephen Hu and many guests!
- Simultaneous games from 15:30: register each morning at the infodesk to attend one of the sessions that will be organized.
- Game reviews: bring your own game record to have it reviewed by one of the available professional players or teachers (and perhaps some unexpected high-level volunteers!). First come, first served.
Pro Players
YoungSun Yoon became professional in 1992 and was promoted to 8p in 2010. She then moved to Germany where she teaches go and recently began sharing her knowledge online through her YT channel “Yoon’s Baduk Café”. She is also the co-founder and one of the main teachers of the online platform Awesome Baduk, one of the partners of the Congress.
She will hold five lectures in the first week. You will also have the opportunity to meet her and ask for reviews at the Awesome Baduk booth.

Antti Törmänen became professional in 2016. He remained invested in European Go, notably by founding and running the Nordic Go Dojo, but also by participating regularly in the EGC, where his pedagogy is much welcome! He will hold two lectures in the first week.
Michael Chen attained professional certification in the 2023 pro-qual tournament. He is joining the EGC teaching team this year and will hold three lectures in the first week.
After 2022 and 2023 EGC’s, Choi Wonjin is returning to Europe for the whole Congress, as an official representative of the Korean Baduk Association. He will share his passion and enthusiasm about the game through many simultaneous sessions.
Wang Tao became professional in 2005 and was promoted to 6p in 2014. He will be here during the first week as an official representative of the Chinese Weiqi Association, and will be available for general teaching.
Gao Xing became professional in 2012 and was promoted to 5p in 2024. She will be here during the first week as an official representative of the Chinese Weiqi Association, and will be available for general teaching.
Hayashi Kôzô 7p became professional in 1983 and was promoted to 7p this year. He will visit us as an official representative of the Kansai Ki-in.
After travelling in Europe many times for previous EGC and events, Hayashi-sensei managed not only to learn plenty of languages and astonish everyone with his incredible skills playing the sanshin, but also to understand the core of the European Go mind. We are lucky enough to welcome him for the whole Congress where he will hold three lectures during the second week.
Fan Hui became a professional in China. He then moved to France and spent many years in … Toulouse where he helped popularize go, both as a teacher and active player. He holds three European Champion crowns.
He is back this year as the representative of our partner, the Nie Weiping International Go Academy. He is also bringing a few special surprises with him to the EGC!
Catalin Taranu became a professional in Japan and was promoted to 5p. He then came back to Romania and has contributed to the European go scene as a player, teacher and organizer for many years. He will hold lectures and a special seminary to promote the activity of go instructors in Europe.
Uchida Shuhei became professional in 2006 and was promoted to 8p in 2021. He will be here during the weekend and beginning of the second week as an official representative of the Nihon Ki-in, and will be available for general teaching.
Guo Juan became professional and was promoted to 5p in China. She now lives and teaches go in The Netherlands, and runs her celebrated Internet Go School. She will be with us for the week-end of 3rd-4th August and will hold two lectures. She is very happy to be back in France again, and hopes both to see old friends and make new friends.
Hua XueMing is a 8-dan professional player from China. She will be with us the week-end of 3th-4th and will hold simultaneous games sessions.
Mateusz Surma is a European professional from 2015 and was promoted to 3p in 2023. He is also the founder of Polgote – a booking platform for connecting students with teachers for online go lessons. He will compete in the European Championship, and then will be available for teaching during the second week.
Ali Jabarin is a European professional from 2014 and was promoted to 2p in 2018. He will compete in the European Championship, and then will be available for teaching on Monday 5th August.
Stanisław Frejlak is a European professional from 2021 and was promoted to 2p in 2018. He will compete in the European Championship, and then will be available for teaching on Monday 5th August, and will hold a lecture on Tuesday 6th.
Other Teachers
Denis has been one of the top French players for a long time. He was French Champion in 2020 and regularly teaches at French go camps.
After several French Youth Champion titles, Guillaume is now a rising star of the French go scene. He has recently begun to teach at French go camps.
Christopher is better known as HisokaH, the name he has been using for more than ten years to stream, share go videos and teach online, through his Fulgurogo website, Twitch and Youtube channels. He’s an expert on pedagogy for kyu players.
Originally from Belgium, Lucas now lives in France where he teaches go at his Go School and supervises the French Youth team, while staying at the top of French and European go scenes. He has been Belgian Champion ten times, and French Open Champion in 2020.
Robin is now a well-known teacher in France, where he has attended several summer and autumn camps. He is also involved in the French Youth go team, and is one of the main teachers of the online FFG go club, Stones in the Shell.
Kevin is the founder and main teacher of the Rennes Go School, where he now supervises many students, children and adults, from 30-kyu to 10-kyu. He is of course very used to teaching low-kyu players.
